2024 ECC Events

Many of our events are an end-result of the ECC Annual Service Auction, a Community fundraiser held (usually) the second Saturday of March, that provides scholarship money for education. Its mission is to assist in providing the opportunity of a Catholic high-school education for inner-city grade-school students. Currently, our beneficiary school is Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair, NJ.

This auction is also one of the major Community social events of the year, complete with a different theme each year--with music, decorations, and Community members in theme-related costume adding to the wonderful energy and spirit of the event. Community members get to know one another better throughout the year by selling and buying of services from one another (examples: Hosting a dinner party, baby-sitting, or leading a day hike in a state park).

Our 2024 Annual Auction raised more than $25,000 for student tuitions at Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, run by the Sisters of Charity. Below are some pictures from our biggest event of the year, which had a theme of
“Mystery On The Hill.”

Our 2024 Barbeque (one of our Auction items) took place on a classic, beautiful summer day with the best food, a corn hole tournament, and fun for everyone who attended!

“Murder Mystery Night”
An auction event held in June, 2024.  Hosts Peggy & Dennis Oblack, Liz & Dan Gates, Ellen Kickenweitz and Gordy Glose prepared this Captain’s Farewell Reception in which all 30 attendees were suspects of a murder that occurred during the evening. Complete with dinner and awards, everyone had a great time!

15 Emmaus members sorted and packed boxes of food and household items at the NJ Food Bank as our annual service project. Food-insecure households throughout NJ will be recipients of these items, distributed by food banks throughout the state.

ECC 54th Anniversary

The Emmaus Community celebrated its 54th anniversary at liturgy by blessing our many ministries. Representatives from each ministry carried symbols of those ministries to the alter during the offertory, Blessed ministries include liturgy, music, service project, hospitality, coffee, finance, retreat, liturgy, feed the hungry, green, and altar guild, We also blessed new leaders of three ministries, Mike Wiley (music with Ralph Carbone), Betty Ann Kelly (green ministry) and Jody Pfeiffer (guiding council). We look forward to entering our 55th year with continued enthusiasm and love for God and each other.
